Dreams

From shooting a documentary last week, to doing road travel and shopping for car this week, I juggled with many topics until I found “Dreams”.

“I have a dream”, shared Martin Luther King Jr. So did Mahatma Gandhi about India and so did JFK about landing man on the moon. Very powerful, changing the world dreams.

All of these dreams appeared so impossible in the times when they were born. So do they when kids, students and employees come up with ideas that don’t resonate with familiar reality. They are told they are day dreaming and need to be realistic. All great men suffered this syndrome. Well,  parents, teachers and employers with their best intentions try to teach practicality, because they believe each person can’t be great and familiarity breeds quicker results. While they all strive to achieve best results, many a times the dream is lost, the vision is lost because the feeling is lost! (FYI, I’m a fan of science and also a fan of many other faculties that human beings possess.)

Most personal dreams may not be as big all the time. So no question of practicality. E.g. A dream could be that I’d like to be the pleasant person of my dreams. One of the goals could be to change my behavior so certain person(s) and/or circumstance(s) don’t upset me. Another could be to develop a more friendly approach with people. And then there could be more. It takes time and commitment to feed the dream.

Whats your dream? Folks, all I’d request you is to explore your inner voice and seek your dreams. And help others do the same. Set your vision, establish your goals and take the first few steps, one goal at a time. Follow your dream!

  2. After passing out from school I dreamt of being a strong journalist as Nalini Singh. So, I graduated in Journalism. Before I finished the course I realised I’d rather direct films and I dreamt of Oscar in my hands.

Now, as a mother of one, I try to steel some peaceful moments. And guess what?… that’s happening too! It seems, I’m ready to dream again.

  3. Malvika, thats a beautilfully writen message.
I am working on following/finding my inner Self, and when that happens believe all my dreams will come true. Conversely, i believe if i follow my dreams with all my heart, then i will find my inner Self. Its a bit like catch 22 situation, this life of ours or a circle. One can either dive in, float around and find one’e way through the fog or keep waiting for some seemingly perfect opening through an imperfect eye and hence miss out on the joy ride and whole point of it all.

    • Well said, Sanmati – finding ones way through the fog rather than waiting! It may not seem easy to tread the unfamiliar territory; and following your older dreams may lead you in the wrong direction. Questioning status-quo is a normal process for the more evolved – scientists, artists and seekers. Self-enquiry is a very spiritual process that may lead you to new dreams. So, have the courage to follow your heart. Go girl!
